Recognition

In addition to the opportunities I have been selected to participate in captured by My Engagement, I have had the privilege of receiving the following recognitions.

The
Forum on the Arms Trade is
a network of civil society experts and a point of contact for strengthening public efforts to address the humanitarian, economic and other implications of arms transfers, security assistance, and weapons use. The Forum provides a venue for bringing its community's wide-ranging expertise together to amplify and strengthen its work, while also offering government and media members a one-stop resource for the latest information, analysis, and best contacts. Forum-listed experts are located around the world and work on diverse topics including human rights, development, arms control, humanitarian disarmament, cybersecurity, arms and the environment, anti-corruption, and related fields.
Inclusion in this list does not indicate agreement with or endorsement of the opinions of others. Institutional affiliation indicated for identification purposes only.

2017 Whitney Grespin Carried to Bala Hissar, an active military base with a very strong historical/archaeological legacy.

By Board of Directors approval, the flag is carried on expeditions of such unusual character that their successful accomplishment adds real distinction to the Society and makes a permanent contribution to the world's store of geographical knowledge; or the bearer is engaged in work of a professional, geographic, or scientific nature that is new, original, or represents a "first" in at least one sense."

The Society of Woman Geographers was founded in 1925 and is an international community of geographers and others that encourages and supports research and exploration, provides opportunities to share ideas and promotes intellectual exchange. They have approximately 500 members across the U.S. and in 28 foreign countries, who include anthropologists, journalists, archaeologists, oceanographers, diplomats, explorers and many other professions. Regular meetings and field trips related to members' work are held by groups located in Chicago, New York, the San Francisco Bay Area, South Florida, Southern California and Washington, DC. In addition we have At-Large members living in 36 states and Corresponding members living in 32 countries. Our Headquarters is located in an historic townhouse four blocks from the Capital in Washington, DC.
The list and individual profiles of the Top 99 Under 33 offer insight into the creativity, determination, and passion of the diverse young people who are already tackling the world's critical global challenges. By design, this list is broad and diverse, which reflects our belief that foreign policy in the 21stcentury is made by leaders from all sectors," said Ana C. Rold, Editor-in-Chief, Diplomatic Courier.  "Foreign policy today is the purview of entrepreneurs and innovators, of technologists, futurists, and scientists, as well as those who are making government work in new and better ways. The 2012 99 under 33 list shows that solutions to the world's toughest problems increasingly come from unexpected places," recounts Gary Barnabo, President, Young Professionals in Foreign Policy.
The 99 Under 33 recognizes seven leadership archetypes that comprise the list:
  • The influencer: someone who has influenced foreign policy with bold new ideas
  • The innovator: someone who has designed a new solution to a critical global challenge
  • The convener: someone who has brought people together in creative ways to address a pressing international issue or enhance the foreign policy community
  • The risk-taker: someone who has taken a chance and seen it pay off
  • The practitioner: someone who has changed foreign policy from the inside through extraordinary professionalism and skill
  • The shaper: someone who has changed the public discourse on an aspect of foreign policy or raised awareness on a critical issue
  • The catalyst: someone from a field not typically associated with foreign policy who has had an impact on international affairs
